INSPIRATIONAL
WOMAN AWARD
This year's International Women's Day #EmbraceEquity campaign will be an opportunity to celebrate local women who have made a difference in the community when it comes to progressing gender equity.
Slightly different from equality, gender equity is the process of allocating resources, programs, and decision making fairly to all genders without any discrimination on the basis of gender, and addressing any imbalances in the benefits available to people of different genders.
In the spirit of celebrating International Women's Day, we're asking YOU to nominate someone you think deserves to win this year's Inspirational Woman Award based on this year's global theme. We want to recognize a female leader in our community who has made a difference when it comes to progressing gender equity.
The nomination period will run from February 1-13th. Nominations will be narrowed down to a Top 3 and the winner of the award will be a result of a poll voted on by the public. Voting will take place from Feb 21-March 3. The winner will be announced at our High Tea for Equity Fashion Show Fundraiser event on Sunday, March 5 and will receive a $500 cash prize and trophy.
In addition to the awards program, the event will feature a fashion show by Expressions Fashion Boutique, High Tea food and beverages, keynote speaker and local female vendors. Not to mention the chance to win door prizes! By attending this event, you will be showing support for local female vendors and business owners, Girls Inc charity, and the amazing individual receiving the Inspirational Woman Award.
