About Us

Founded in 1963 by the Italian community, the Italo-Canadian Club is a not-for-profit cultural club and public event venue who has been proudly serving the Kingston area for over 60 years. Built on a mission to unite Italo-Canadians and preserve Italian heritage, the Club remains community-owned and operated by a dedicated volunteer Board. Renting our facilities is what funds our not-for-profit mission, while engaging with the local community to create memorable experiences for our guests.

 

Our venue hosts anywhere from 20-300 people, everything from weddings and banquet dinners to conferences, showers and celebrations of life.

We operate with a team of staff and volunteers working together to deliver exceptional service in a welcoming, community-focused environment.

Event Coordinator

Looking for a dynamic role in the event industry? Join our team as an Event Coordinator—a versatile position that blends event coordination support, customer service and event prep.

This is a full-time temporary contract that falls under the Canada Summer Job Program.
 

Responsibilities:

- Assist in developing event concepts, themes, and goals.

- Create and manage event timelines, checklists, and production schedules.

- Coordinate event registration processes, ticketing, and attendee communications.

- Communicate with vendors, caterers, entertainers, and service providers.

- Ensure all clients meet deadlines and fulfill contract requirements.

- Arrange event setup, décor, audio/visual needs, transportation, and equipment.

- Coordinate staff, volunteers, and on-site teams.

- Develop floor plans, seating arrangements, and event flow strategies.

- Assist with event set-up, tear-down, clean-up

- Prepare invoices and expense reports.

- Provide financial summaries after Club events.

- Assist with promotional materials, event websites, and social media campaigns.

- Prepare email newsletters

- Serve as the main point of contact during events.

- Manage event flow and troubleshoot issues in real time.

- Oversee guest experience, registration, and customer service.

- Ensure safety protocols and service standards are met.

 

💡 What We’re Looking For:

To be eligible for Canada Summer Jobs, you must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years old at the start of their summer job

  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the job and

  • be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

  • This includes having a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of their summer job

  • This job requires a Valid Smart Serve Certification

  • First Aid certification(s) (preferred)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Highly organized with great attention to detail

  • Comfortable working long shifts on your feet

  • Ability to multitask and stay composed in a busy environment

  • A self-motivated team player with an outgoing, professional, polished presence
     

Note: Our location (1174 Italia Lane, Kingston) is NOT on a bus route. (It’s a 25-minute walk to the nearest stop.) Candidates will need reliable transportation to fulfill this role.
 

📅 What to Expect

  • 30 hours/week from May 5-July 30, 2026

  • Tuesday-Friday weekdays, plus evenings and weekends based on event bookings

  • Working under the direction of our Banquet Director

  • Possibility for continued casual or part-time work following end of contract
     

💰 Compensation

  • Rate: $18/hour + gratuities

Casual Bartender

Looking to pick up flexible shifts in a fun, social, and event-based environment? Join our team as a Casual Bartender at the Italo-Canadian Club, where no two events are ever the same.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a hospitality setting and is looking for occasional evening and weekend shifts.

🍸 What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages during events

  • Process guest payments (cash and card transactions) during events

  • Reconcile and balance the till at the end of each event

  • Provide friendly, professional service to guests

  • Set up and stock bar areas before and after events

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar throughout service

  • Clear empties off tables

  • Work collaboratively with event staff and volunteers to ensure smooth service

  • Assist with closing duties, including cleanup, polishing and restocking

💡 What We’re Looking For

  • Valid Smart Serve Certification (required)

  • Previous bartending experience preferred

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • A proactive individual who takes initiative in keeping busy throughout their shift

  • Ability to stay calm, organized and efficient during busy periods

  • Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods of time

  • Ability to work well as part of a team or independently

  • Available for evening and weekend shifts

  • Casual, as-needed scheduling based on event bookings

  • Evening and weekend shifts primarily

  • Variety of events including weddings, banquets, fundraisers, corporate functions, and community celebrations

Event Lead

Looking for a dynamic role in the event industry? Join our team as an Event Lead—a versatile position that blends event coordination support, customer service, event prep and bartending.

This is a casual, evening/weekend-based role perfect for someone who thrives in a social environment and enjoys taking initiative while working as part of a small team. We are in need of a reliable, keen individual to ensure our events run smoothly and efficiently when our Banquet Director isn’t available. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • As a keyholder, you will be responsible for opening and/or closing the premises on event days

  • Follow a provided run sheet to keep events on track

  • Ensure the events run smoothly by maintaining communication with clients, catering staff, and team members throughout the event

  • Anticipate the clients’ needs and problem solve when issues arise

  • Maintain a clean and organized event (clearing glassware, refilling water, etc.)

  • Assist with event prep for upcoming bookings (polishing glassware/cutlery, organizing event supplies, folding laundry, etc.)

  • Bartending duties as needed

  • Event set-up, tear down and cleaning duties as needed

 

💡 What We’re Looking For:

  • 1–2 years of bartending and/or serving experience

  • 1-2 years leadership experience

  • Valid Smart Serve Certification (required)

  • First Aid certification(s) (preferred)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Highly organized with great attention to detail

  • Comfortable working long shifts on your feet

  • Ability to multitask and stay composed in a busy environment

  • A self-motivated team player with an outgoing, professional, polished presence
